Another mad day on the beach. I waited today until the tide had dropped
quite a bit and tried to gather my strength after yesterdays sessions. By
11.30am the wind had dropped off a little but was still around the 25-30
knot mark with some 35 knot gusts.
I rigged my 4.5m and my wave board and got out there while the kite-surfers
were deciding what to do. The wind steadied at around 26 knots and it was
perfect once again. More cross-shore today so better for jumping and with
the closely spaced waves I was able to take off from one wave and clear the
wave behind it whilst still in the air. There were some nice big waves out
the back too and I had a good time in amongst the whitewater. Staying
upwind with my little fin and the strong longshore current was difficult,
but thakns to the strong winds possible.
Derek came out with a kite but was a little too overpowered so went back in
again and set up a 4m kite instead. Although by the the wind had eased a
little bit more and I was now having trouble staying upwind, so Derek wne t
back out with his 10m kite. The other kiters had all gone home a while ago
and I couldn't be bothered to rig a bigger sailed, so packe up and came
home too.
Another nice windy day with rough seas and sunshine though.
